Email Management

Facts to Consider When Migrating Your Email from the Sphera control panel to the new Sphera control panel:
  • Any standard Email client can be configured to send and receive email for the New Sphera accounts.
  • The Sphera plans use Internet-standard POP3 email and not IMAP/Microsoft Exchange Server email. This means that some Outlook-specific, resource sharing features will not work.
  • Microsoft Outlook clients can be used; however, the Outlook-specific features such as group calendars and shared folders will not be available.
  • Due to the differences between POP3 and Microsoft Exchange mail servers, no mailboxes nor the data they contain can be coverted to the POP3 mailboxes. In order to migrate the mailboxes to the new Sphera plan, new mailboxes must be created.
Adding a New Mailbox
To add new email clients you will need to login to your site's control panel. The Web address for your control panel is at http://yourdomainname.com/manager. For example, if your domain was www.myweb.com, your control panel would be located at http://www.myweb.com/manager/.
After logging into your control panel you will see the Site Details page. This is the start page of the control panel and from here you will navigate through the control panel to add and configure your email addresses. Click on the "Email FTP" link. Please see figure 1-1 for reference.

An example of the Email/FTP panel is below. To add an email address click on the Add New Email/FTP button on the lower right hand corner. Please see figure 1-2 for reference.

Figure 1-2
After clicking on the Add New Email/FTP button the Email/FTP Wizard will be seen. Add the desired username for the mailbox in the Username field. The information to enter into the account Description field is discretionary and not required. Please see figure 1-3 for reference.

Figure 1-3
The Mail Quota entry is set for 0. The control panel indicates 0 = unlimited. However please note that 0 actually means 10 megabytes which is the default quota per mailbox. You can reconfigure the Mail Quota for a smaller or larger amount of mailbox space by entering the desired mailbox size. For example if you would like to set the quota for 20 megabytes you can type in 20 for the quota.
Enter the desired password for the mailbox in the New Password field and then confirm the password by reentering it in the Retype Password field. Finally, click finish to complete the setup of the mailbox. Please see Figure 1-4 for reference.

Figure 1-4
Once completed, you should see the new mailbox listed in the Email/FTP control panel page. See Figure 1-5 for reference.
