FTP Upload -- Linux

FTP is a protocol used for transferring files across a network (i.e. from your computer to your web server). You may use any commonly-used FTP program, including WS_FTP, CuteFTP, SmartFTP and Fetch for Macintosh systems. Additionally, instructions on how to use a DOS command prompt to FTP can be found here.
General setup instructions for configuring your FTP program are as follows:
  • Your username will be your username in the format username%domain (if you have a name-based account) or simply username (if you have an IP-based account).
  • Your remote site will be your domain name or IP, depending on your account.
  • Important: You must make sure that passive mode (PASV) is disabled in your FTP program. This may be found under Advanced Settings or Configuration Options.
